the shield, sword, and crown

Oh Pokémon, I can never truly escape you.

Every two years, a main series game is usually released. Therefore, every two years, I go through what I call my gremlin mode. I’m not proficient in battling—my method of getting through routes is by being 20 levels higher than the most powerful Pokémon I can encounter. However, what I am good at is being a stubborn completionist who’s only goal is to complete the Pokédex.

Luckily for me, the Galar region in Pokémon Sword & Shield (Generation 8) was the first time that not all Pokémon from that point backwards was able to be obtained. Though many players hated that idea, I saw it as a blessing in disguise. Trying to find 1000+ Pokémon was hard enough, and trying to catch them all? Not even the immortal Ash Ketchum has the patience. Maybe Kris from Pokémon Adventures does, but certainly not an average player like me.

I think that one reason why I like to complete the Pokédex is to get the shiny charm too; it’s not for me, it’s for my dearest brother who then uses my account to shiny hunt! A win-win situation all around.

Though I would want to post my team and my first league run, my Nintendo DS sadly encountered a system failure in 2021 and I lost all of my save data on a lot of my games. One of the few games that can’t be backed up on a Nintendo account is (ta da!) Pokémon. Alas, I still have my certificate of completion stored on Facebook, so that serves as my alibi right?

Since there’s no National Dex, I guess I can retire early this time.

Thank you to my friends and family who had to abide by my requests past 9pm to help me complete this one. usually, I’d get version exclusives from my bro and trade them in using local trading. This time, I had to actually be friends with people since we share a Nintendo Switch. Special thank you specifically to [Reis], [gnuH], [Fynney], and my bro!

This was done on Pokémon Shield.

400/400 – No Mew.

2019, December 22

I did not get a chance to purchase the Pokémon Sword & Shield Expansion Passes: The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra before my save data was wiped. I may replay the game one day, but right now, I still mourn the loss of that account.

Finished as of December 22, 2019.

This game has nothing to do with The Shield, Sword, and Crown by Hilari Bell, but it does bring back fond memories of the trilogy.
