look at all those chichens

Alright, not to brag or anything, but one may call me a chicken connoisseur.

Originally released in 2017, Chichens was created by HyperBeards to be an idle game where you can race, play with, and hatch your own chickens—rather, chichens.

I finished collecting all the chichens from all the worlds (except for Hallows which is too expensive for me to unlock since I’m a Free-to-Play person). They are adorable and I collected all of the ones I liked into my little garden 🥺🐣🐥 it may have taken me several months but they’re just too cute with their little hats and little bawk bawk noises. Very nice, would recommend. Time to delete.

Edit from my original post from 2020, now 2023: I wish I had a screenshot of my little chickens in their little hats. I did however find this screenshot from the Temple page on Chichens Wiki page.

Look at that, they have a little witch hat and party hat.

How-to-enjoy: Chichens

Disclaimer: this is not meant to serve as a guide on how to play the game in any way. This is how I’ve chosen to enjoy the content and to show my processes in that moment in time. Some features may have been removed or added since my “completion” so please enjoy the game at your own pace!

There were a few things to note at first on the menu side bar: the shop, “meal time” that grew your chichens, and a count for how many chichens can fit into an area. Sadly as a free-to-play player, I was limited to ten per area. It took a lot of careful planning since I’m sentimental towards pixels. Still though, I think I did well!

Overall, it was a quick game since I checked back often, but I could’ve treated it as an AFK had it not been for my own folly.

On the main screen, your little hens ran around, slept, and pooped out coins that you could then use as currency to purchase more eggs. During meal time, all of your chichens lined up in the order you obtained them.

The more you fed them, the more they grew in size! Image from HyperBeards’s Official Twitter.

The more food they ate, the bigger they got; the bigger they got, the faster they run; the faster they run, the more likely they would get prizes like little hats.

Each chichen came with their own name and little personalities. I couldn’t help but grow fond of certain ones. Choosing which to keep and which to sell was always hard.

One of my favorites was a little chicken named “Destroyer” who was very large and likes bread. But look at the pensive face! I’d protect Destroyer with my life.

Finished as of December 5, 2020.

10/10 would recommend.
